n this level,you continue to practice the improv essentials learned in level one and apply them to creating engaging two person scenes that form the basis of long form improv shows.You are also introduced to character development.
This class focuses on four specific skills that all improvisers need:
- Partnership: Creating scenes as a team bit by bit.
- Relationship: Making scenes about each other. Exploring what each character wants.
- Game & Heightening: Recognizing and playing patterns, finding the “game”, playing with a sense of humor and joy.
- Emotion: Being affected by what is happening and what is being said.
Your class will have one show at the end of the session.
You are encouraged to see 3 improv shows (your choice) during the session, which will be discussed with your group. Currently enrolled students enjoy free admission to the theatre.
Prerequisite: Level1 or graduate of Second City, IO, or UCB improv program
This class meets on Tuesdays form 7-9pm starting April 26th. NO CLASS May 31st for Memorial Day.
Tuition is $195 per 7 week session. Save $20 by registering by registering by March 31st. Classes that do not meet minimum enrollment of 6 students by one week before the class start date may be cancelled. Registration deadline is April 17th, you may still join this class at discretion of theatre and $25 late fee. Maximum enrollment is 14 students. Instructor(s) are subject to change. Advancement to next level is based on attendance at 5 out of 7 classes, completion of show requirements, and instructor recommendation. Students may elect to repeat any level once at a 40% discount. Tuition is non-transferable and non-refundable. Tuition may be applied to a future session if notice is given at least 2 weeks before the start of the current session.
